A blaze-orange hunting coat floats through the snowy woods, out-of-place as a sign in the desert: burning bush, billboard, neon whorehouse.

    1. Don’t worry. Our hunting friends are very safety conscious, and the property is posted for hunting by written permission only. Still, I tend not to go for too many walks during the two weeks of regular-rifle deer season, mostly because I don’t want to interrupt anyone’s hunt.

  1. I love the combination of burning bush and neon whorehouse. Very nicely captures the poles of thinking about hunting.

    1. (Just noticed your comment — sorry!) Thanks. I’m more or less pro-hunting myself, and definitely pro-safety, but there’s no getting around the aesthetic wrongness of blaze orange in the winter woods.
