Dawn. The soft calls and dark moving forms of sparrows seem covert, even illicit, until the Carolina wren’s alarm clock chatters to life.

  1. Because we’ve loved,
    the soft calls and dark
    moving forms of sparrows

    at dawn seem covert,
    even illicit– Furtive
    like some joys

    tasted on the wing,
    keen in their retreat,
    as any bladed thing.

    1. I’m tempted to title this “Carolina Wren.” No?

Regardless, I really like where you took this one!

    1. O.K. Maybe for the ones you leave untitled I will just use the first line in quotes for the title of the post. I want to give each MP poem its own post at Via Negativa and make a proper series out of it.

    1. Yes, good. How about losing that last comma?
