“Marcescent” – what a useful word! I learnt Latin at school and later studied horticulture but I didn’t know this one. I’m enjoying the mental picture as well as the vocab-enhancement. Thank you.

Thanks! I tend to prefer simple words, but there’s no other word with that meaning, so “marcescent” it had to be.
