At dawn, scattered drops—a passing shower. Spring peepers in the corner of the field call in spurts, like an engine running out of fuel.

“call in spurts, like an engine running out of fuel.”
Nice imagery.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the talk at the end of the lane today. We made up to the bench where Mary Anne had to take a break so I took advantage of the time to read to her, (she’s blind), one of the pamphlets available to visitors. Engrossed in the information, I lost track of time so we had turn back due to darkness. We would like to return to finish the hike and maybe do some “detecting” at the river end of the road. Thanks again, I am envious!
